Why do all the files get downloaded from a torrent, although i have selected only the desired ones? After the metadata has been retrieved, we have an option to select the desired files for download from the Torrent information section.
Once the user selects the files, only those have to be downloaded ignoring the unchecked ones. But qBittorrent downloads all the files irrespective of those unchecked. Open any torrent file which has multiple files within for downloading. After the metadata is retrieved, uncheck any file and process the torrent for download. As a consequence, a piece can contain information relative to more than one file and qBittorrent only operates at piece level. Because of this, if two files are adjacent and you choose to download only one of them, it is likely that the filtered one will be partially downloaded and thus appear on the hard-disk.
I did write a script for this so you can blacklist files inside the torrent you do not want to download. It is the only way currently until qBittorrent develop it as a feature you will have to use a script.
